DESIGN ENGINEER (DE)

Job Description

This appointment requires you to design, develop systems utilizing as many Hydac products as possible. Therefore, a strong knowledge of both the product and general hydraulic design skill is essential.

Being a DE, your functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Design, development and production of hydraulic schematics, electrical schematics, PLC system, P&ID diagram and material list using relevant software.

2. Design, development and production of manufacturing and assembly drawings for hydraulic and process systems such as power units, filtration skids, lubrication skids, cooling system, manifold blocks, piping diagram, electrical panels, etc… using 3D modeling and/or 2D CAD software.

3. Liaison with customers regarding project design changes and deviations.

4. To size and nominate relevant products such as accumulator, coolers, filters, hydraulic cylinders, etc… as per customer requirement and as replacement of competitor’s product.

5. To assist sales colleagues on technical clarification and/ or tender documentation.

6. To prepare, review, submit and liaise relevant design submission and documents to relevant approval parties.

7. To prepare relevant technical and quality control documents, schematics, drawings, reports and user manual where require and as necessary.

8. To conduct investigation and perform troubleshooting of relevant product failures and prepare report where necessary.

9. To assist commissioning and testing of hydraulic, electrical, PLC, lubrication and process filtration systems.

10. To assist supply chain on technical requirement of required parts.

11. To assist any other departments where necessary.

Expectations

DE’s work is to design functional product as per customer and tender specification. To achieve that, DE must be competent in mechanical, structural, hydraulic, electrical engineering as well as PLC programming. In addition to that, DE will need to translate their design into manufacturable blueprints. Products need also to be proven to function according to its intended use.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Technically advise suitable products, service or equipment for Client. 
• Secure and Renew Orders and Coordinate for the delivery.

Responsiblities :

•	To liaise with the relevant departments for the smooth implementation of all NPI
•	Work closely with Design & Tooling Department on tool design; modification and fabrication to minimize hiccups in all project;
•	Performs analysis of process related problem with the aids of design of experiments (DOE) data gathering and initiates corrective and preventive action to eliminate the root cause of the problem;
